History

CEASE was founded in October 2008 by a small group of collaborative Durham Region Healthcare Professionals who were passionate about
helping patients with smoking cessation. It was originally called the Durham Region Smoking Cessation Network (DRSCN).

The founding group included Jane Ling, Dr. John Stewart, Dr. Jack Cottrell, Dr. Ravi Tahiliani, Sandra Schmidt, Willa Navarro, Dr. Jessy Bhatia,
Tracey Poxon and Glenda Clapham.

In January 2010, it was decided to change the name to CEASE (Central East Association for Smoking Elimination) to align with the Central East LHIN
(Local Health Integrated Network) to expand our area, our membership and our initiatives.
